DESCRIPTION
 
The Vehicle
This immaculate 300 SL Roadster – W198 was manufactured at the factory in August 1960 (order number 02222245) and delivered to Switzerland.
The first owner was Jerry Gould, who, according to the Swiss vehicle registration certificate, resided at the Hotel Sommerau in Dietikon.
In addition to the vehicle registration document, there are also photos of the first owner’s ID.
 
In early 1971, Jerry drove to Angoulême in western France. There, the car sustained front-right damage.
Presumably, this is why he sold it to Jacques Vallade on January 21, 1971, as indicated in the sales contract. Vallade kept the car until 2015.
Since the car was mostly parked outdoors, it was likely already in need of restoration by the 1990s and was therefore disassembled for an overhaul, which, however, was never completed. Unfortunately, parts of the body were stolen during this process.
 
In 2017, HK-Engineering acquired the unfinished roadster and subsequently began restoring it.
The full restoration was carried out with the aim of bringing the vehicle as close as possible to a perfect and true-to-original condition.
In doing so, the greatest possible importance was placed on preserving the existing structure and the original details of the vehicle.
 
The utmost importance was placed on preserving the vehicle’s existing structure and original details. Each component was meticulously restored by experienced experts, ensuring that this dream car and icon of automotive history is now once again in perfect condition.
